Dietary fat supplements influence weight gain and egg production, but not offspring sex ratios in Japanese quail, Coturnix coturnix japonica

چکیده

Sex ratio theory suggests that females should bias offspring sex ratios based on maternal condition and the availability of critical food resources. Work in birds indicates do, indeed, according to quality quantity. Yet it is unknown whether these skews occur due fluctuations particular micro‐ or macro‐nutrients, caloric content overall even perception availability. We hypothesized dietary fats may drive biases ratios, because measures often reflect fat reserves, are for process egg‐laying birds. To test this, we provided breeding Japanese quail, a species response condition, with either control diet supplemented two oils (safflower oil flaxseed oil). These were chosen their high omega‐3 omega‐6 fatty acid as well importance mammalian allocation. then measured influences diets offspring, change weight, laying rates female quail. The supplements increased weight gains quail but decreased number eggs laid during experiment. There was no influence ratios. This not be macro‐nutrient involved adjustment

Egg Production Pattern Of Japanese Quail (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) In Northern Guinea Savannah Zone Of Nigeria

The technology drive from egg production in relationship with genetic selection makes today’s egg production quails quite different from those of a decade ago. For instance age at 5 percent production is now earlier and total egg number has increased. The quail eggs are renowned for their high biological value (George, 2002). Although it was first considered mainly as a model animal for commerc...

AIM The present study was conducted to evaluate the performance of gray, brown, and white varieties of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) with respect to body weight, egg production, and egg quality traits in the coastal climatic condition of Odisha. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 500-day-old straight run Japanese quail chicks of three varieties, viz., gray, brown, and white were r...

Fat absorption and deposition in Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) fed a high fat diet.

Dietary fat contributes significantly to the energy requirements of poultry. Not all species are able to increase their absorptive capacity for fats in response to a high fat diet. The effects of a high fat diet (10% canola oil) on the lipid absorption and deposition in the liver, breast and thigh muscles of male and female Japanese quail were investigated. Thirty-eight Japanese quail (Coturnix...

Response to Selection for Body Weight in Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

The present studyinvestigated the impact of selection for body weight (BW) on productive performance, predicted BW and genetic improvement of related traits in Japanese quail. Base population, selected parent and F1 progeny were tested. Pens and cages were used for rearing and breeding. A total of 240 birds in two successive generations, 27 sires and 54 dams (as selected parents) were used. Bod...

A study was conducted to investigate the effects of different betaine (BET) (0.0, 0.5 or 1.0 g/kg) and folic acid (FA) (0.0, 4.0 or 8.0 mg/kg) levels on performance, egg FA concentration and egg production of laying quails using 288 forty-two day-old Japanese quail in a 3 × 3 factorial arrangement of treatment based on randomized complete design. The results showed that none of the performance ...
